Clare's nutcracker tablescape

This has been undoubtedly a tough year. Christmas Day itself will be one to sit down, relax and possibly reflect back on the months that have passed.We tend to eat at lunchtime, so it is light and bright. The colours of the nutcracker story say Christmas to us all: red, green and touches of gold. As the garden has been such a big part of lockdown life, I have brought flowers and foliage into my theme. As this is the one meal of the year we all look forward to, it is one where I write a place card for everyone. The kids like looking for where everyone is placed.
I give everyone a party popper to allow everyone to release their energy and to burst any formality that may be lingering. And of course, we all need the tissue cracker hat to be nicely lopsided by pudding time!
